The artist aim is to create a different experience that not only subverts the classificatory mode of the museum cabinet, but has it seep and overflow with chaos and mess using the artist’s archive as collage on sculptural forms. It is an abundant energy designed to move ideas around Aboriginal cultures being stale or romanticised and to challenge the often stagnant ideologies surrounding non Western cultures and artistic actions. This experiment is deliberate to assemble new ways of seeing and align different histories and peoples together that are often divided by the trope of ‘primitivism’ and the powerful gaze of the European colonial machine.
