TABOO

Breaking taboos is the stuff of life as literature and art tells us. Great stories hinge on such breaches. The gods do it and so do mere humans. Even animals do it. The collective memory of each society has ancestral versions of such violations. Many sacred narratives from the Aboriginal world tell of elopements by young couples who were forbidden to marry; their breach usually resulted in their permanent separation and eternal rest in places where they can only observe the human drama.
